In August Juche 62(1973), General Kim Jong Il visited Mt Kumgang again.
It was nearly at sunset when the General finished looking around the area of Kuryong Pool and descended from mountain. Suddenly he stopped the car to call one attendant and told him to bring the guide, who was in the following bus.
The guide rushed forward, thinking that the General wanted her to explain about Changtho Pine Grove.
But the General, who got off the car and waited for her, shaked her hands warmly and looked at her with a gentle glance full of affection for a long while, and appreciated her service again and again.
She was too moved to keep back her tears, with her head down.
The General devoted himself all day without rest in order to build Mt Kumgang into a cultural recreation area for the working people, but he valued the guide’s service highly instead. Changtho Pine Grove swayed with fresher verdure, telling the benevolent affection of General Kim Jong Il.
His affection, indeed, had no end but only beginning.
In the past Changtho Pine Grove was extremely destroyed, as the pine trees here were cut down at random by the Japanese imperialists before liberation, and were cut or burnt even with splinters due to the enemy's indiscriminate bombing during the Fatherland Liberation War.
However, thanks to the warm care and wise leadership of General Kim Jong Il, today Changtho Pine Grove is standing firmly and demonstrating its new look proudly as a witness of the history, telling the story of that day.
