Mt Kumgang, the noted mountain of Korea, which is famous for its superb scenic beauty, also tells a touching story about General Kim Jong Il’s warm love towards people, who cared about providing them with pleasant rest.
Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un said that General Kim Jong Il’s patriotic mind was always filled with the word people.
One autumn day when every beautiful peak was aflame with autumnal tints, General Kim Jong Il came to Lagoon Samil.
Lagoon Samil presented an unusually fascinating scenery that day.
General Kim Jong Il recalled that the name Samil originated from a legend saying a king, who intended to stay for one day, was so amazed at its scenery that he stayed for three days. General Kim Jong Il said in admiration that the scenery was surely beautiful and deserved its name.
Mentioning the origin of its name, he expressed admiration for its beauty once and again. Officials earnestly asked him to take a rest there even for one day.
However, he simply smiled as if he couldn’t grant their dearest wish.
He looked round several spots of Lagoon Samil and gave officials detailed instructions about the facts that they hadn’t recognized.
He was also anxious lest people be injured during their visit to the scenic spots.
He worried that people might fall into a deep pool if they slip from the watery rock, and instructed officials that people should keep to the safety regulations in order to prevent such accidents. His words left officials a great impression.
Looking around at officials, he taught them to amuse visitors to Mt Kumgang with interesting folk stories. He said that there must be legends about Mt Kumgang’s scenic spots and historic scenes in old books, and instructed them to dig up all those legends and make explanation entertaining. He pointed out that some people misconstrued telling folk stories into practicing reactionism and it was a wrong idea. He said that people wouldn’t be tired during the climb if they listened to the folk stories.
Regardless of the officials’ earnest desire, the General never considered his relax, but only thought about how to let our people spend the happiest time in scenic spots.
Thanks to the General who so earnestly hoped that our people led a happy life, Mt Kumgang is boasting of its beauty as a noted mountain till today.
